Thanks Janice. Now I don't want to sound like a total idiot,but I guess that is unavoidable ha ha, But were you refering to Edward in the 1901 census as a bricklayer, only on his marriage cert it states his Profession as a Shoemaker Master and Thomas as a Bricklayer. Just a little confussed.

Sorry should have put name yes it was the Edward in prison who was a bricklayer on the image.

I am not sure their seems to be so many, and I can't think of any way to confirm any of these. I suppose if we could put Thomas and Edward in the same household but then trying to find out how old Thomas was It is getting so confusing.
But you never know I might stummble onto something.

Dot for you have a mariage cert for Ernest? I just wondered if it has any siblings as witnesses,just hoping to find a sibling born before 1901 census!!!!!!!!!
looks like you might have to wait for the 1911 census to find them and confirm where Edward was born .
