I have an obit from local northants paper mentioning him as a nephew at Ernest Smiths funeral, who was my great grandad. Also i remember my father talking about visiting him when he was a child. Theres a lot on the web about him but it always says born in Northampton, son of a grocer but never mentions a parents name. thanks for being interested.

Henry Smith c1832 Middlesex.
Mary Smith c1830 Northampton
Frederick Smith c1864 Northants
Charles Smith c1865 Northants
William Smith c1867 Middlesex
George Smith c1869 Middlesex
Ernest Edward Smith c1871-1950 bMiddlesex dBarnet?
By 1881census Henry is gone & they are back in Northampton making shoes.
I have William Alwyns dates but I have no idea which of the siblings was his father.

I'm looking for a shoemaking family from Northants. Father Henry, mother Mary,children Frederick, Charles, William, George & Ernest. Ernest ended up on the stage with his wife May Hankel. A nephew was William Alwyn[Smith}, well known film music composer. another nephew was James Smith, a master at Watford Grammar School. I can't find how these people fit together. Thanks for taking time to read this, I know i waffle on a bit.
