Hi, I have hit a brick wall with search for my wifes side of the tree, Can anyone help through census or any other form , all I have is names and possible dates of birth, Her Nan Annie Maude Samsone (could be sampson, on her mums marriage cert it is Samsone Annie was born 1911...she spent some time in a childrens home in Birmingham ? Her Mothers name was Frances Louise Samsone b1890 (died at the age of 29yrs )just befor she died she remarried and her named changed to Carter and had a daughter Agnes....Francis had a sister Nancy Ann Samsone b c1888, it gets more confusing,(but will leave it here for now) but if anyone can find anything....Help? They were born in or around Aston Birmingham or Sollihull...Warwickshire.

But is it her married name or maiden

The way you have writen it is she remarried a Carter..so me thinking she is married..but you also say she had a sister with the same surname ??

You say she spent her time in a Birmingham children's home but are you sure thatis where she was born?

Colin

Colin Report 22 Jul 2008 15:06

Hi
Samsone is the first married name , the census above looks a good possiblity , we are going to see a relative later, I meant she went onto marry a Carter, so would then be Frances Carter, she had a daugher Agnes , shortly after died at the age of 29 yrs...

The 1891 census looks good , shows in the 1901 that Amelia was widowed , so within ten years she would have had another daughter Ann and lost her husband George, getting there, will hopefully get it confirmed later ///

Colin

If Samsone/Sampson was her first married name then the Frances that i put up in the 1901 is NOT the right one as thats her maiden

You also say Frances had a sister called Nancy Samsone, again making it her maiden

For her daughter Annie Maude to have her surname would mean Frances hadn't married before a she married a Carter

I have just joined Ancestry, Her maiden name was Bowen she married George Sampson he died ...
