Debbie,

I notice that you have posted on a few threads referring to the Ryan family. These are quite old threads and the originators may not see your posts. It would be better to send them a PM (email through the GR system). To do that, just click on their name and type your message in the box that comes up.

Thank you very much for looking that up for me, im very greatful for all of your help. I guess i need to keep searching but im not sure what to search for next or where! I cant find them on any census returns, and im having trouble finding the births of the sisters and brother of my grandmother. They seem to be an elusive lot!

Hi Dea. I have his death certificate, he died in Southampton in 1914 his age was 47 but as ive come to realise you cant be sure of the age being correct! Although my dad can remember his grandmother ( Elizabeth Ryan nee Paul) William Ryan died before my dad was born. but he was always told that William was born in Ireland.

Tracey. thank you for looking anyway.. Ancestry is slow because im on it aswell :) I dont know how to check addresses, ive not found out how to do that bit yet. is it possible to look at 181 Manor Road, Itchen for 1901? this is the only address i have for them in Southampton from Williams death certificate
thank you so much.

Sarah,

you posted:

Father William John Ryan. Gunner in Royal Artillery.( He died in 1914 approx 47 years of age. family stories say he was born in Ireland)

Do you have any details on this? - Are you SURE he died in 1914?

hi Jeanette. yes it could be, but as ive found out there are so many william ryans its difficult to know which one could be my great grandfather as i have very little information on him.

Tracey the address is 19 Stafford Street, Sunderland.

I have gone through all of the marriage indexes from 1880 to 1894 picking out all the elizabeth pauls i could find, then i went back through to see if they matched any william ryans, but i couldnt find one!

Please can anyone out there help me??
ive spent ages searching for the marriage of my great grandparents and I cant find a thing.
The info I have from my grandmothers birth certificate who was born in 1894 in Sunderland is as follows.
Father William John Ryan. Gunner in Royal Artillery.( He died in 1914 approx 47 years of age. family stories say he was born in Ireland)
Mother was Elizabeth Ellen Paul. I dont know where or when she was born. although ive been told she was English. My Grandmother had a least 3 older siblings so im guessing at a marriage date of around 1885?. although my grandmother was born in sunderland, I understand that the family moved around alot until finally settling in Southampton so they could of been married anywhere...But i cant find them.. any help or advice would be greatfully received.
thank you
sarah
