I have an Ann Ellen Cox, M.23.3.1857. To Thomas Denning.no other info on them. And before that William Cox, M.14. 8 .1827, to Mary Ann Greening. Do not have places of birth, marriage, or death.

Jim

Trying to make sense of the 1861 entry.

We know that Elizabeth and John are a Daniel's parents.

A Daniel Cox does marry Matilda Court in 1860.

Minnie (on page one of this thead) also had Daniel and Ann as a couple and I thought perhaps it was not the right family. Interesting though, that you have them sharing the house with Elizabeth and John.

Im wondering if I have Matilda as correct. I was convinced this was so, as, in my family tree, I have Alfred (Hall) and Mary Cox married (this I know for sure) they were the parents of my Nanna. Her name was Catherine Matilda. Alfred's mother is Catherine. And so I then found Daniel and Matilda as possible parents for Mary, presuming they named their child after both of their mothers.

Does this make any sense? Shout if you want to see my tree and I will open it up for you.

Somewhere I am trying to fit together bit of puzzle that dont actually belong together.

This one is difficult.

PS, perhaps she was Matilda Ann, or Ann Matilda?

Hi Julie
The 1861 does not really matter as the 1851 and 1871 agree .I think when the enumerator transfered the information he could have made a mistake or,as you say maybe Matilda and Ann are her names.
I have checked the census and births for Newport and it seems she is the only Mary Cox that fits.
If you really have any doubts then her marriage and birth certs. will give you a definite answer.

Thank you Jim, you have taken away most of my doubts.

What do you think to Kathleen's suggestion on page 1 of the thread that she might have Matilda's family?

I cannot find her on familysearch.org
