George Podmore, don't know what year he was born or which area. only know it was not stoke on trent, possible shropshire. He lived with Thomas Henry and Sarah Hodgson and family for a good number of years. During those years he and Sarah had a relationship whilst she was still married and her husband living in the house. Which resulted in 4 children. These children kept the hodgson name
He later went on to live with Beatrice Johnson nee??????? and had a son named George who became a teacher in his adult life

yes that is the correct marriage for thomas henry and sarah .
but it is george podmore that is the mystery

Do you know if George had a middle name, there are so many George Podmore's born in Staffordshire during that timeframe. We really need some more information to narrow down the search.

george i know was born outside of stoke on trent. could possible shropshire. he never married beatrice johnson nee ????? so i haven't got a marriage cert to go on

I know in 1914 he was old enough to father a child and that he was a coal miner
i also know he was alive in 1968 aged approx mid seventies

If its Shropshire it narrows the field - do you know when the son, George, was born to George and Beatric. Did he take the name Podmore or Johnson?

so if he was born 1885 , he would have been in 1968 about 83yrs. so that cancels out the 1885 birth as i know he was not in his eighties in 1968
will try the 1896 birth . I suppose sarah hodgson could have had a relationship with a younger man as she was born in 1882
George junior would have been older than me so he would have been born approx 1940's in longton stoke on trent . Alberta St,
A relative of mine as just told me she thinks George senior came from Nottingham way, but from the recollections from my mother i feel it was shropshire

It gets very confusing , some people knew him as george johnson taking his wife's name and others knew him as george podmore,
he must have died between 1968 and 1975. i got married in 1975 and i think he was dead by then

If Beatrice was the informant then, yes, her name will be on the death certificate.

Checked the deaths till the end of 1975, there were 2 other George's who died in the Staffordshire area but they were born in 1910 and 1920 so not him.

If you search you should be able to find George Jnr's birth as well. If you get stuck post another message.

can you answer one more question. i know that george died in Alberta st, Longton staffs, so why would he be registered in stafford or Cannock
