I don't know for sure. There is just one book given to my farthers father (George) from the Band of Hope in Fartown in 1907, which is why we think the family was there. My father knows nothing about a Robert, his father never mentioned having a brother called Robert, there are no pictures of Robert. Do you know any way I can find out what happened to the family? |

I am trying to find out what happened to Robert M Smith born approx1900/1901 in Newcastle upon Tyne. He was 6 months at the time of the 1901 census and his parents were Alexander Smith and Louisa Jenner Laird (Born and Married in Scotland) He had an older brother George born 1897 in Scotland. The family moved down from Scotland into Newcastle about 1899. In 1907 George, his mother and father are known to be living near Fartown in Huddersfield but there no longer appears to be any record of Robert M Smith at this time. Is this because he had already died if so where and when? Can anyone help me shed light on what happened to Robert M Smith. I am also trying to find out if there was a Frank Smith born in Newcastle approximately 1902. My father has some recollection there was an uncle Frank that he believes was his father Georges brother. Frank was in the Merchant Navy and traveled to Wei Hai Wei (China Station) sometime before 1927, my father believes he was based at Rosyth.. He would have been my fathers uncle and I am trying to help my father trace his roots and any remaining family members. Any Help would be wonderful. Thanks |
