hi my dad was alfred james snell born 1931 died 1996 he had a big family brother ron george john peter sister rita and winniehis dads name was william snell and mum was gertrude winifred plom both born 1901 iwould like to get some more info on his family if anyone can help like did his dad have brothers/sisters and williams dads name were they in the army if so were when when did they die.

umm on the marriage details it says John W Snell.
funny thing is most of my Snells went by their middle names drove me potty (cost alot too)

this seems to be the only family in that area at the time but the birth cert will confirm the parents names

Nicholas and Elizabeth could have been Gertrude's parents...her birth certificate will give you that information. Charles could have been a brother of Gertrude. As Gertrude was not born until late 1901 she will not figure on the census until 1911

So the first thing you should do is purchase Gertrude's Birth Registration from

www.gro.gov.uk

On the form that comes up say yes you have the reference (given to you above) and it will cost £7

You also purchase the marriage certificate from the same source.
