Hi Andy,

Looking at the first marriage and picking up the name Humphrey Liveley, this is looking really good. After the 1851 census I cannot see Humphrey anywhere, so did he just use his middle name there on???

That's possibly why I couldn't find him as James on the 1841 census.

many thanks,

Dee

She's 15 years his senior on the 1881?

Are you sure they married at all, and that they weren't just living together due to the fact she maybe had a husband still alive somewhere and unable to divorce?

HI IVY,

YES THAT'S HIM.

YOU WOULD THINK WITH A SURNAME THAT ISN'T SO COMMON YOU'D BE ABLE TO TRACE THE FAMILY BACK, BUT I'VE BEEN HAVING A REAL PROBLEM WITH HIM.

THANKS, DEE

Ivy

Ivy Report 23 Jun 2008 18:30

Hi Denise,

His 1881 entry states born in Blockley. This parish is close to the Glouc / Worc / W'wk boundaries, which have moved over the years.

HI FOLKS,

I CANNOT FIND THE PARENTS OR SIBLINGS OF JAMES.

I HAVE HIM ON THE 1861 CENSUS, HE IS MARRIED TO MARY (SOMETIMES DOWN AS MARY ANN), HIS SON JAMES (C1856 WALSALL) IS MY G G GRANDFATHER.

I CANNOT TRACE HIM IN EVERY CENSUS YEAR, WHICH IS FRUSTRATING.

I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO KNOW WHAT MARY'S MAIDEN WAS.

BOTH JAMES (SNR) AND MARY LIVED TO A RIPE OLD AGE AND CAN BE FOUND IN THE 1901 CENSUS IN WARWICKSHIRE.

ANY HELP WOULD BE GRATEFULLY RECEIVED.
