hi can anybody help, i thought i found parents for John before but seem to got stuck again, cant seem to connect them My grt grandfather John Foxcroft brn 1819- 1876 Lancaster married Mary Atkister 1864 .. in Lancaster im trying to find John Parents and if he had any brothers or sisters.. i got infor on a grave that a sarah foxcroft buried with them she died 1862 age 48 but cant find any connection with them or find sarah thought she might give me the answer.. can any one shed light on this for me ..

This looks like Sarah's death, her death certificate might shed some light on who she is.

all i have is the grave infor which the cemetries gave me that John Foxcroft age 58 died 27th June 1876
Mary Foxcroft age 67 died 1891
sarah foxcroft age 48 died 1862
in one grave not found it yet lost count how many trips i have had to try and find it, i get there

I think this could be your John in 1861 and it does state he is married.

have to check that out that might explain that one, get the certificate, mind you its a bit strange having two wives in the same grave eh!!

I recently came across a vault with the husband, his first wife, their daughter, and his second wife and daughter all buried together. I don't know how common it would have been.

Nowt as queer as folk as they say.

Hi Elaine,

1871 census:-
John Foxcroft aged 52, innkeeper, b. Caton,Lancaster. Living at 115 Penny St., Lancaster with wife Mary Foxcroft, aged 46 and daughter Mary A. Foxcroft aged 5.

1861 census:-
John Foxcroft aged 42, shoemaker & attendant, living-in and working at Lancaster County Lunatic Asylum.

1851 census:-
John Foxcroft aged 32, cordwainer. Living at 2 Brian Street, Lancaster with his mother Ann Foxcroft aged 72, widow, housekeeper, b. Wigan, Lancaster.

1841 census:-
John Foxcroft aged 20. Living in Ludgate, Caton, Lancaster.
Several streets away in Caton,
Thomas Foxcroft aged 51, silk spinner. Living with his wife Ann Foxcroft aged 62 and children Mary aged 25, James aged 22 a shoemaker and Jane aged 15.

John's brother James had a daughter called Sarah Ann Foxcroft b. 1870. Is this the birth date of the Sarah in your grave info.

To double check John's father. Have you sent for a copy of the marriage certificate.
