Find Ancestors

I have John Ferguson (millworker) aged 32 and his wife Catherine Ferguson (spinner) aged 27 both recently married and in the 1871 census for Registration district: St Mary Civil Parish: Liff and Benvie County: Angus Address: 19 Blackness Road Dundee.

I can't find them on the 1881 and 1891 census can anyone help please!! Have tried Scotlands People but there are so many Ferguson's I can't find them.

Lucky with the Scottish census on Ancestry you can search quite easily on address

GB..i have just learnt something then lol as i never knew that

Thanks for the info the 1871 census. I didn't know Ancestry could pick up on address, never heard of that before.

This John's wife is called Elizabeth..is it the right one

Yes Julie she was Elizabeth my mistake, it was her mother called Catherine they just put Elizth abbreviation. Thats them ok know the daughters name!!

Scottish census on Ancestry is better for finding someone by occupation as that is also available.

Hi Glitter Baby they don't have these address searches or by occupation etc on Scotlands people just have by name searching and age.

I used to leave the Scottish look ups cos of not knowing the areas..well now i'l be able to

Many thank Julie and Glitter Baby for all your help, love the way Ancestry does this so quick, Scotlands people brought up lots of people with the same names, looked at 3 of them but wrong family.

Yes Glitter Baby that is the family in 1901 as Marcella the spelling of her name changes all the time, unusual name too again thank you.
