Hi Margaret,

Someone has a Mary Louisa Yates and Alice Yates in their tree on Ancestry with a father Charles.

Mary appears to be their relative.

based on that I assumed this was Helan's family.

Only problem with your findings is Charles occupation. He is a farm labourer in 1901. Helen says hes a boiler fireman on the marriage cert.

I guess he could have changed his job

I don't see the records on IGI for the names you mention.

I got Alice's siblings from Igi records & I have nothing else on Alice Yates other than 1898 Chesterfield Derbyshire UK,The rest of info I have is what i got of her marriage cert 24 july 1920 she married Ernest Booth 1890 Harworth Nottingham

Do you know when Alice Booth/Yates died?. If you find her death it might have her date of birth.

Also there is the possibility Alice lied about her age. My grandmother knocked a couple of years of her marriage so she wouldnt be older than my granddad.

Have pm'd details of births found 1920-1930

The certificate that I have shows that father of Alice was Charles Yates & not Henry, Charles was a boiler fireman Alcie yates married Ernest Booth in Parish of Harworth Nottingham. It also shows that the witnesses present were Charles william Lister & Mary Louise Yates which I would take as being Alice's sister.
They married 24/6/1920.
So whilst the names are very similer I would have to take it that
I may have Alice's siblings wrong
or
that the names are coincendently the same.
I am trying to find the children of Ernest Booth & Alice Yates.

Margaret the ages dont match but it is strange the names are the same.

I looked for this Henrys marriage. He married Mary Rhoda Slack.
There is a Rhoda Slack born the right place working as a servant in 1891.

This had to be Henrys second marriage if his son John Thomas born 1888 is his


1891 census.

Surely that's your family that Margaret found, the children's names and ages match. Are you sure you don't have the wrong father?
