Find Ancestors

If you are still looking - It is likely that we are second cousins - once removed. I am descended from Charles Fred Carlin's sister, Laura Ann/(Annie) Carlin.
I have an extensive family tree recorded for her descendants if you are interested!

It's long and tedious, but definately worth it for the amount of data that can be achieved.

When i do an ONS (one name study) i go in 10 year segments, doing all the Births, Marriages and Deaths for each decade. I then match up what i have before moving on, it stops the data overload that will happen!

Clive to find Decendants you will need to go through the entire BMD and note all those who married, born or died in the areas you were looking at. This is called a one name study. Once you have gone through the entire time frame you are interested in you can then pair up the births with the marriages and then the deaths... this will give you a comprehensive list of all those within your family.

Sorry for any trouble caused, I do subscribe to ancestry and use family search, I was hoping to find descendants of the family or perhaps ancestors previous to the ones I already have.

So can you please tell us at which point going forwards your data stops?

For all the newer stuff you will be better off getting yourself a subscription to ancestry or find my past, this way you can trawl through the entire BMD yourself looking for the Birth, Marriage and Death records. That is far too big a task to expect anyone here to undertake.

The fun in this is the finding the data for yourself.

As for going backwards, try www.familysearch.org this is what we would use.

Or google for the OPC (Online Parish Clerks Project) and maybe the counties you are looking at will be included.

Thanks for this Tracy & Maureen, perhaps I should have entered a bit more info' This is the first time I've done this.
I have all the usual census "stuff" was hoping for any more recent family connections, also the oldest ancestor I have is Williams father John, born 1775, It would be good to find any earlier ancestors.

I would say Laura Anne's YoB (1866) on the 1871 census is a little out here is her birth record.
