Could someone please look up a marriage for me?

Edward Hawies Lavin born 1802 in Penryn Cornwall.

Married Sophia Pascoe born 1818 in Penzance, Cornwall.

From their birth dates I would assume they married sometime 1835 onwards.

Rootsweb.com has some BMD's & its free to search, (i use ancestry myself.)

If you are looking for anything pre 1837 you will only find it in parish records, although some have been transcribed on Familysearch. which is always worth a look.

I have just come back online and found your add on. Very interesting thank you.
If in the Lavin family the Edward is the one who married Sophia, then our year of birth for him is probably incorrect. I thought being 47 was a little old to be married in 1849 unless of course he had a previous marriage.
Re the John Lavin Jnr, we have alot of family history about a John Lavin who went to NZ and was killed in the Maori Wars in 1869. Maybe that is him?

Anything else you come up with would be much appreciated.

I've been trying to find them on the 1851 after they married but haven't had any luck, in fact I haven't found a Sophia Lavin at all in any year, do you have them on any census?

I presume you must have to have known Edward's full name.

Hi Christine,
We have known Edward's full name for years from family info. I haven't really been looking into this family on GR other than my husband asked if I could find out when they were married. Edward and Sophia went to South Africa at some stage so maybe had gone by the 1851 census.
Lavin or Pascoe family info would be useful if you find anything else.

Thank you very much Linda. Yes that is definitely our Edward - with a name like that how could it be wrong!
Obviously the birth year of 1802 that we have has been incorrectly transcribed over the period of time. I will now amend my records. We are visiting there from Oz in a few weeks time so will now have a new area to visit!
If you find anything else that looks to be connected to those families I would be most appreciative of your help.

They were married Jan 16, 1849 in Falmouth. Edward drowned in South Africa in 1852. I am related to him.

What information do you have on John Lavin Jr.?
