I am trying to find the parents of Abraham Wild, born about 1789 in Oldham, Lancs, possibly baptised at Shaw Chapel or St. Chad's Rochdale. He married Ann Thornton at Manchester Cathedral on 19th March 1810. Also looking for parents of Ann Thornton. Abraham and Ann migrated to South Africa (with five children, Richard, Betty, Abraham, Maria and Henry) with the 1820 Settlers on board the "John" with Stanley's party, and settled in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. Have heaps of info on the S.A. side, but am finding it difficult to pin down just which Abraham he was. Is there anyone out there who has a sibling in their family tree, or perhaps a family story handed down about a brother and his family who migrated to South Africa? Abraham also saw service in the 84th Regiment of Foot between 1812 and 1817 - have been unable to access his army records online from the Archives at Kew, so no info about his "place of abode" or family there. |
