Hello Kaye
this is the Hawera reference I found in the South Taranaki District Council's Cemetary listing for 1941 aged 63. It would seem that this one would have been too young to be the right one and does not have the Maud in her name, perhaps a daughter who didn't marry. I checked the births deaths and marriages site and there were about 4 Mary Ann's who married Hayes men in that era so could have been any of them but is interesting that they were in the same area. Hi Margaret

Thank you for your post. I found Mary Ann Maud Hayes née Johnstone burial in Hillsborough, Auckland d.13 Nov 1930 and Joseph also their but not together d.1951. I'm intrigued, who is the person of the same name buried in Hawera? I appreciate your posting, thank you Margaret. Regards Kaye

Hi there not sure if you still want info on Joseph Hayes, I saw this as it came up on my home page as I was born in Kaponga. I looked up NZ marriages for this time, there were lots of John Hayes but only one Joseph who married in 1896 Mary Ann Maude Johnstone . I checked with the South Taranaki Cemetary lists and she is buried in Hawera died on24.4.1941 aged 63 no Joseph in thier list though. But it would seem likely to be the right one being in the right place. My aunt's mother was also a Hayes from the same area but probably not that family.
Hope this might still be of use.

Thanks Antipodes,

I will have to ask my mother if she knows more about Joseph and John Hayes. All I know is they resided in the Kaponga, Stratford, Hawera area in NZ and would have probably married in the decade of 1880-1890, but this probably doesn't help you with searching. Will get back to you. Again, big thank you for your time and response back to me.

Regards DR

Hi Antipodes,

Wesley John Marshall was a very busy man, although its possible there were two Wesley's who married in 1945 or something happened and he married twice in that year.

Any luck with John Hayes and Joseph Hayes (sorry thought Joseph married the Kelland, but it was the Mary Hayes as you found. Big thank you.

Can I please ask for an additional search please.

Edith Jane Carpenter (or Hartnell) to Chamberlain in the late 1800's.

Really appreciate your time and effort assisting me.
Thanks DR
