Yes, an employer could do it with the employees permission - Ive had it done when I worked with vulnerable young people - it took weeks to come through and I had to pay for it myself (cheek). You say yourself, the police wouldnt be able to tell you anything - but its the central police department that conducts these checks for employers.

If you want to read about these checks, this is the link: or just google Criminal Records Bureau.

Hello again Heather, xx

I DO think there is a way - contacting the police is a good idea but I wonder if they would be able to tell you anything because of data protection' ?

What I do know is that if you are employing someone, you can do a 'criminal records check' - my son works as a plumber and did some work recently for the Gas Board and before they gave him work they had one of these checks done.

He is now starting work for a Care Home Organisation and they have had another one done.

I don't know the details but I am sure someone would know - If not, I could try to find out.

Kayleigh, if its current records, there is no way you can get access. If you have concerns you should speak to your local police.
The only other possibility is to check out newspapers.

This isnt about a green but i didnt know where else to post for help, i was wondering if anyone could help, I would like to know if anyone can help me find criminal record checks, or if anyone knows of a way of getting access to them or something, private messaging would probably be the best way of communicating on this one as its a sensitive matter, i want to find someones crimal record for genuine reasons, i just want to keep my children safe that is all. many thanks
