i'v decided, i'm going to go for broke on this, and send for elizabeth woods, and john taylor houghtons marriage certififcate, i'll get a lot of info there, then next month i think i'll send for johns death cert, my intrest in ancestry in not just in how far back i can go, but in there lives and how they lived and died, hense i have a lot of certififcates,

Scrap that, i just realised they dont have any children on the 1871 census so it can't be them as james, john and william would be on it with them.

of that, i dont know anything about her at all
other than, whats on my grandfathers birth
certififcate, just that her maiden name was woods
i'd like to send for her marrage cert, but would
they be able to do it with just 2 names, no date,
or place

she married in st helens so my guess would be liverpool/st helens/southport (somewhere in Lancashire)

Elizabeth could have remarried. Often the new husband didn't like bring up another mans child so the child was then brought up by a relative ie grandparents.

Oh sorry!! but thats what it feels like just now, i thought i might as well try that, as, looking at the census, which got me no result's.

next. a bit of info on elizabeth she is my g- grandmother, she married john taylor houghton,book keeper of st helens,

when living at duke street st helens in 1871 they had a son, wilfred taylor houghton, in (1879 jan Q) john died in prescot,

wilfred was then brought up by his grandparents,
were's elizabeth gone?

i may never know, this is a shot in the dark, i'm hopeing somehow
the community could make it a bulls eye
