Linsey Report 8 May 2008 21:31

Please would someone be able to get a trace on two ancestors for me who were both born in Dublin (no more accurate place of birth given) according to the 1881 census. I have the marriage certificate for the couple, who married in Manchester in 1874. I assume that this is the approximate year that they arrived in England - the 1871 census doesn't list them.
Edward ECCLES bc1851, an upholsterer, was the son of Robert ECCLES, a prison warder
and his wife:
Mary CALLANAN bc 1853, a waistcoat maker, daughter of Michael CALLANAN, a sailor.
The couple were Roman Catholic, as they married in the church of that denomination -St Mary's on Mulberry Street, Manchester. Either a trace on them in a birth register or census would be a help - I am a complete novice on Irish ancesty!
Many thanks to anyone able to help,
L. Avery
