Does anyone know anything about the Wesleyan Methodist baptisms records??
I have never heard anything about these before but I have just found a ancestor who was born in Nottingham but was christened at Paternoster Row Wesleyan Methodist Registry, London.

Apparently this is a list of birth marriages and death who wasnt church of england?? Is that right? The only place I have found you can look at them is National archives reading room - which I cannot get to.. too far away..

But what I have seen is this : -
The Wesleyan Methodist registry opened in Paternoster Row, London in 1818.
The certificates and the register entry have the name and sex of the child, the name and address of the father, the name of the mother and of both her parents, the date and place of birth, and the name of the Wesleyan circuit, with the signature (or name, in the register) of the parents, the witnesses to the birth, and the baptising minister.

Now that information would be VERY useful.. Anyone had any dealings with these records??

Wesleyan Methodists would be classed as Non Comformist churches, as well as Baptists, Evangelical, and Independent. They usually keep their own records. You may be able to find some of them deposited at local Family History Centres. I recently went to Carmarthen to try to trace some of my non conformist ancestors but to no avail. I will probably have to go to Cardiff Records Office. This register you have seen does it only cover the London area? I was married at a Wesleyan Methodist chapel in Nuneaton. Have no idea where they keep their records.
