Hi Trudy

There are 2 Alexander Browns born in St Vigeans around this time. One in 1817 and one in 1818.

A £6 subscription to ScotlandsPeople will allow you to call up copies of their birth certs, and still have 18 of your 30 credits left.

Hi Trudy,

The problem is you have to find the correct Alexander Brown's parents or you could go totally of track. Can I ask how you found out your Alexander was born in Saint Vigeans, Angus, Scotland? Where did you get your information from?

Hi Trudy,

If you have the marriage of Alexander Brown and Elizabeth Kinnear then the marriage certificate would give you the parents names, when did they marry?

Betty

Trudy

Trudy Report 2 May 2008 12:38

i am not sure but they married between 1841 and 1851 as i have alexander on his own in 1841 and then with elizabeth in 1851 with their eldest child. who was 8 in the 1851 census.

thank you

Hi Trudy,

I don't have a clue which side the MacGregor's are on. To be honest I don't know anything about Scottish Clans, maybe if you google the name and the area it will come up with something.

However as far as I know there could be several MacGregor clans in Scotland.

Trudy

From 1603 until 1775, the name MacGregor was banned in Scotland and the clan members were ordered to take the name of any other clan.

(Google for reasons behind this).
