I'm trying to find out what happened to a family blacksheep, her name was Sarah Dunn who was tried and found guilty of the murder of her daughter in 1885. Sarah was tried, by Mr Justice Wills, I think at Bishop Auckland Magistrates and although sentenced to hang the Auckland Board of Guardians managed to get an appeal for clemency to the Secretary of State and then she was granted clemency from the Queen and instead of hanging she was given life imprisonment. While awaiting trial and sentencing she spent time in Dunbar Gaol and Durham County Prison. Where would be the best places to find any information about her after she was taken from court. Any help will be welcome. |
