Could somebody see if they can find William? He would have been about 7ish in 1901 and living in South London.

If I put in william Hancock 1894 London into my search I get hundreds of results, so I need to know which part of south London,

It would probably be Wandsworth or Clapham. Would it be easier to try for his brother William I know he was born in 1893/4

Any idea what the name of the father was?

No sorry don't know. The mother was born Aust she married a Shinn who died. She went on to have the two boys after the death of her husband. Don't know if she re-married.

Can either of you look to see if there is a Walter and William with the surname Shinn? Have looked at other info. I have and think I may be on wrong track with the Hancock surname.

Still no joy for William and Walter Shinn. Just to recap Susan was married to a 'Shinn' but he died and then she had William and Walter is that right? Any idea of the age of Susan? You say she was born Aust is that Australia?

Susan was born in 1859. Her surname was Aust. She was born in Suffolk. I think william & Walter were born after Susan's husband died. I know William was known as a Hancock as I found his death on the War Commission site.

Have been unable to find any of the family in the 1901 census; could they have emigrated?

Thanks Catherine for all you hard work. Unfortunately most of which I knew. Will check the Walter birth details out. No they didn't emigrate. My mother who was born 1923 knew them all. I remember Walter who was still alive in the 1950s.
