I'M TRYING TO FIND ANCESTORS OF MY GRANDAD JAMES SMITH B. 1927-1999. HIS FATHER WAS ALSO JAMES SMITH B.1900/01 - 1973. HIS MOTHER WAS ALICE KENSEY B.1900/01- 1974. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE IS GYPSY CONNECTIONS AND ALSO IRISH ROOTS? CAN ANY ONE HELP ME, DO YOU HAVE A LINK WITH THE SMITHS I'M AFTER, MY GRANDAD AND HIS PARENTS LIVED IN DUDLEY, THANKS ANN |

Ann, if they were Smith's from the Oxon/Warks border I may be able to help you but I have nothing on Dudley, and no Kensey's. Have you tried these free sites: Romany Road, Romanygenes, Journeyfolki, or Romany Roots? Rootsweb have some threads about gypsies too. |

I'm not sure if I am related, but I was adopted and found out that my grandad was james smith but he was married to an ellen smith |

PS: There were Smiths in the Leamington Spa area too, my husbands 2nd cousin married into them. So far I havent found a link to my Smiths, who were on the Warks/Oxon border. |
