I have the marriage certificate of James Wilson married to Agnes Coombs in Somerset in 1904. James' father is listed as John Wilson, a cashier. James is a clerk.

James' family is apparently from Helensburgh. He was born in 1878 in Scotland. He emigrated to South Africa between 1904 and 1905 (although he may have gone there earlier) and had 3 children - Bert b1905(Herbert James), Hilda Mary b1907 (my grandmother) and Alan b1915. He worked for the Railway company but died of typhoid around 1917. His widow and children had to return to England

His brother (no name remembered) also emigrated at a similar time and he had a daughter Winnie who remained in S Africa.

I have no further clues for James family and no idea about his mother. I have searched the Scottish census but can't be convinced of any family I've found and Helensburgh doesn't throw up any clues.

My parents remember cousins Jess and Stuart visiting but they could belong to another part of the family.

Does any of this ring any bells to anybody or can anyone suggest where next to search.

Thank you for reading all of this!
