To anyone who has ancestors who were farmers or landowners in Cheshire after 1836 - Cheshire Records Office has a great online resource.

Tithe apportionment maps are searchable on their website. It is a brilliant facility enabling you to search by location, occupier, owner. The maps are excellent quality and allow you to look at other maps in comparison of the area. It gives you full details of the various apportionments when you move the map around giving you details of the name of the land, the owner, the occupier, the use of the land and its area.

Well worth a look.
