I am trying to trace relatives of Arthur Wilson. His parents were Thomas and Elizabeth (nee McClernon) and he had 2 brothers John and Joseph. He married Alice Hodgkinson in 1921 and had children, one of whom was called Bernard. He was still alive in 1957 but was divorced and thought to be a tramp. Any information would be gratfully received.

Hi Judith. I too am looking for relatives of Arthur Wilson but mine was born 1875. He was my gt. grandfather and married my gt. grandmother Alice Orme in 1900, Arthur was born in Heaton Norris. His father was John Wilson who married Ann Sharples. John and Ann were both born in Ireland and John had several siblings, the three brothers I know of are Henry Robert and James. I think James and John were twins as on the 1861 census they are shown as being the same age. I have addresses going back to 1861 but have come to a bit of a standstill with my Wilson research. My grandfather was also called Arthur.

My gt. gt. grandparents John and Ann had the Yew Tree Pub on Broadstone Lane. This had been opened in 1790 and shut down on 4th February 1907; following a report of illegal cockfighting on the premises.

If you think we have a connection, please get in touch. If I can get any siblings of William (born in Ireland around 1812) who may have come over to England with William, then I may be able to get a bit further (and hopefully you will too), I would like to get the Irish side sorted as well.
