I'm trying to find the origin of the name Le Clerc used by at least one branch of the O'Reilly family. Whether it came to Australia from Ireland, or was added after arrival in Australia, I don't know.

Family history says it comes down from the descendents of Henri Le Clerc, Henry the Clerk, an illigitimate son of Louis the XIV (or some other Louis - didn't seem very important at the time)

Suggestions most welcome.
