Hi Guys,
These Mcdonalds are very complex but one of the best sites I have looked at for Irish links is the Irish History Foundation. Give it a look and see what you think,
Cheers,
Lynda

Have you found Michael McDonald 1842 Ireland on any later census after 1851?

Battenburg

Battenburg Report 28 Mar 2008 04:24

Ralph B Mc Donald born 1867 Jarrow. If this is your gt grandfather then his fathers name is Angus born 1840 Scotland .Mother Dorothy 1841 Newcastle according to the 1871 census.

Where does Michael fit in?

You really need to buy Ralph Bainbridge McDonald marriage cert to verify who his father is or you could be going down the wrong track.

You need to buy certs from what you know to be true and work backwards checking on the census as you go

Brian.
The Angus McDonnell on the 1901 census is yours mistranscribed. Correct place of birth and occupation. Correct wife . Also the address 262 High St Jarrow is the same as in 1891

When I did a census check for Elizabeth Varty/Guy, there was a Guy but married. So, I think that varty is more possible.

Get this certificate and it should have mothers maiden name on it, then you will know for sure.
