Am still searching for anybody with knowledge of my gg aunt Elsie Cliff (born 1906, Liverpool).
Here's what i know:
her father was Joseph Cliff (born 1871, Edstaston, Shropshire) and her mother was Laura Graham (born1877, West Derby) She had an older sister, Dora (born 1904) and four younger siblings: Hilda (1907), Charles Henry (1909), Alice Linford (1911) and Harold/Harry (1913).
They were all born in Liverpool. I know Joseph died in a work related accident in 1918 (he was a porter in Liverpool central Railway station) and that Laura died shortly before or after him in Prescot, Lancashire.
After their parents deaths the children were either adopted by family members or were sent to St Christopher's Railway Orphanage, Derby.
Dora was sent into employment as a housemaid, Hilda adopted by her father's brother Thomas and his wife Martha, Alice adopted by her maternal aunt Dora Shaw who lived in Anfield. Charles and Harry were sent to the Railway Orphange.
Elsie was adopted by her father's brother Henry Horn Cliff and his wife Edith Rudkin Cliff and went to live with them in Motherwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland in 1919.
Her adopted family all emigrated to Tacoma, Washington in 1924 but i have no idea what became of Elsie! Or her siblings!
My grandfather would love to find out what became of her so if anybody knows or recognizes these people please please get in touch!!
