Find Ancestors

I have a marriage certificate for Lizzie Parker, father John Parker a watchmaker, and William Lancaster.

They married 4 March 1889 in Studley, Warwickshire when she was 22. I am trying to narrow down her birth certificate and thought is anyone could find her on a census it might give me a clue.

You should be able to find her on 1881 census...........free to all on www.familysearch.org

You may, however, find that her birth wasn't registered, as it was not compulsory until 1875

What was William's age? What was his occupation?

Thanks for that. I have actually already found William and have him on most census, but not 1891. Is the 1891 available free anywhere?

It is Lizzie I cannot find as I'm not sure she was born in the Studley area.

Your 1901 has Lizzie down as Elizabeth born in Studley. So why can I not find her?

That Elizabeth is William's Mother.

To make life confusing William Lancaster's Father was William, his mother was Elizabeth and his wife was Elizabeth (lizzie). It is his wife I am now trying to find.

I've looked on Google Map and there is a Crowley up by Manchester. Not sure if that's the right place.

Elizabeth's birthplace in 1891 is in Warks...........note that I inserted a query mark against the place name..........the image is not very good

Who were the witnesses to the marriage?

Thanks for still looking. As I mentioned before it is slightly confusing as William's parents were William and Elizabeth nee Redding, but I agree that is William's family.

The witnesses were Thomas Lancaster and Sarah Jones so no real family clues for Lizzie. Her place of residence on the marriage certificate was Studley which is not surprising as that is where William's family is from. The certificates are generally registered as Alcester both places are now in Warwickshire.

I just cannot find her and there are so many Elizabeth Parkers that without any clues from the census I am rather lost.

Anyway will sign off for tonight and check back in tomorrow in case anyone has had insomnia and found me a breakthrough.
