Have looked for a death on sp but haven't found one using mother's maiden surname.

Aha!! Here it is William Ednie (illegitimate) Dec 6th 1878 aged 10 at Bankfoot died of acute bronchitis. Mother Agnes Ednie married to David Shepherd, coal miner.

Don't think you'll ever find who the father was unless someone has them in their tree and knows the family history. Sorry.

Oh thats interesting because i have just found out the David was a widower when he married Agnes!! So he must have married Eliza Lonie.

perhaps William Russell/Ednie died young?

Young Agnes staying at grannie's with father and siblings. Mum Eliza maybe died in childbirth? There s a death for an Eliza Shepherd n Fife in 1868.

So Agnes is probably the second wife becoming her stepmother. Still haven't found William Ednie/Russell though.

Hi, alviegal thanks for the info this is why i didnt twig that William was Agnes's son because he is never mentioned in any further census reports.

Another kind person has told me that he has also been called William Ednie. He was born in 1868 3years before Agnes was married and on her marriage to David she is classed as a spinster. Which rules out the first husband dying!!

The plot thickens.

Thanks for the information. I never twigged that William could be Agnes's son with her being called Ednie at the same time.

I have Agnes married to David Shepherd although perhaps this is a second marriage.As her daughter was born (isabella in 1882).

Suzanne, I also live in Fife but up until i started this part of the family tree i had never heard of Carnbee. Aparantely there are still lots of Ednies in Carnbee and Arncroach.

No William Russell born 1868-1870 in Carnbee...

I am looking for the parents of William Russell born 1869 Carnbee in Fife.

The census information i have has him living with his grandmother at the age of 2.
