This was apparently briefly on line at the beginning of January - I don't suppose there is any chance that anyone downloaded it? Probably it was much too big. The site that had it was told by the GRO to take it off.
I have asked them what reason they were given to make them 'pull' it and will add this when I get a reply.
It does not seem right that the BMD can be on line - and be searched in person at the FRO - soon to be at Kew- but the Adoption Index may only be searched in person, meaning long journeys and long waits.
(for anyone who does not know the Index only has the adopted 'new' names, no cross referencing with the original birth name index is possible.)
