Member Since: November 2003 Posts: 17 Send Message	I am wondering if anyone has ideas on how I can progress with my Husbands family tree. I have got as far as his Great Grandparents Robert TAPLIN (abt 1857) and Martha McLEOD who married on 25th Dec 1878, in Battersea, London, (Robert's age was given as 21). I have managed to find earlier records of Martha and am quite happily working through them but I have got stuck with Robert. I have the marriage certificate for their marriage , and on this Robert’s father is stated as Charles Taplin, with a profession of a plumber. The address Robert and Martha gave on the Marriage Cert (42 Alfred Street) is the home of their witnesses Robert & Eliza Boxby (nee Snooks) according to the 1881 census, Robert Taplin’s place of birth is given as Portsmouth in the 1881 cenus, “South Hampton” in the 1891 census, and “Southampton, Kent” in the 1901 census However I can find no trace of Robert before his marriage in 1878 and no trace of a Charles Taplin with a son called Robert anywhere, even though I have searched the BMD register for a Robert Taplin/ Tapling/ Talpey born anytime between 1856-1861 Can anyone offer any suggestions as to how I can trace his roots?
