I need some help trying to go back a bit further with my Potter tree.

Joseph Knowles Potter (b1841) married Mary Barrow (b1845) in London (I think). They had 3 sons that I know of (although no detail on 2 of them) - Thomas (b1871), Henry (b 1875) and Alfred (b1872).

Alfred married Emma Cooper (b1872) in London. they had at least 14 children as follows:
Emma Annie - married Alex Dyson (my grandparents)
Thomas Louis - married Rhoda Degan
Esther Elizabeth - married James Thompson
William Henry - married Doris Kirby
Ruth Adele (Tigs) - married Tom Richards
Violet Kathleen - married Frank Collins
Leslie Knowles - married Eva (I think) ?
Francis Alexander (Frank) - married Florence ?
Joseph Alfred - never married
Reginald Leonard - married Jessie Fortens
Lydia Louise - married Eric Bellows
Alice Ann - died at birth
Jessie Amelia - died as an infant
Percival Leonard - died as a teenager.

If anyone can help go back further, or indeed help with descendants of the children I have listed, I would be gratefull.

Ummm, now I think I have the wrong family, because you say the mother's maiden name was Barrow, whereas this one's maiden name is Page.

Joseph Potter married a Mary Barrow in Leigh in 1862.

Hi

Lewella, you had the right family. It was my error. The wifes name was Page. The family were certainly in Manley, Cheshire and working in the stonework/quarrying business.

Sylvia,

WOW!!

Thank you so much for that info, especially the second marriage for JK Potter. The family info for Tom is appreciated as well.

It will take me a little while to assimilate it into my tree, but it should give me a direction to follow as being in Australia it is a bit difficult to 'just pop down to the local library' and call up this sort of thing in the parish registers etc.

Sylvia,

Ah, the tyranny of distance. Makes life interesting at times.

Do you have any connection with the Potters mentioned above, or is the info something you just had at hand, or did you do a specific look-up for me?

Whichever it is, thank you so much.

By the way, Moggill is not very far from where I live (Red Hill, near the city).

Hi Chris

no, no connection with the Potters.

Just one of the things I do ....... I'm one of the many who spend time doing look-ups for other people on here. I think all of us who do this love the hunt, and trying to solve problems.

You're very welcome, I'm glad I could help you

Maria

You should start your own thread with your request.

It is not a good idea to piggy back your request on to someone else's thread .... it is not likely to get much response.
