I have just received a copy of the marriage certificate of my 2x great grandparents George Thompson and Sarah Bird on 30 Nov 1877 in Crostwick, Norfolk.

The certificate names George's father as James Thompson. At the time of the marriage George was living at Bessingham - he was approx 26 (the certificate said he was 'of full age' rather than giving his age in years, but I know from census material that he was born around 1851.)

I don't whether James also lived in Bessingham at that time. I've been told that George was born in Thurgarton, Norfolk....so maybe James lived there????

I'm guessing at a birthdate for James of c 1825, it could be a fair bit earlier than that.

If anyone can offer any more info about James my 3x great grandfather I would be extremely grateful.

thanks

Jeremy
