DROWNED IN R.THAMES AT LIMEHOUSE IN 1939

Maureen Report 23 Feb 2008 11:39

My Grandfather Henry SHEPHERD left his family in Poplar c1910. On 11 Feb 1939 his body was found In R. Thames near Dundee Wharf, Limehouse, London. He was described as aged 61, Dock Labourer of No Fixed Abode. Inquest found insufficient evidence to show how he came into the water.
I would like to know what happened to him between 1910 and 1939. Did he have another family?
Does anyone have a relative or know of anyone with a relative who was drowned in the Thames?
I don't know much about Henry. I suspect that he was born in London c1877/78. In 1907 he was employed as a Contractors' Carman. His father was also Henry, who was described on my grandparents' marriage cert. as a Foreman.
Any information would be very gratefully received.
