Jill 2011 (aka Warrior Princess of Cilla!) Report 22 Feb 2008 21:48

Looked through full BMDs on Ancestry for Maria Smith marrying a Jones - searched Mar 1919 through to Dec 1921 and nothing.

You might do as well either to sign up for free 2 week Ancestry trial to have a good look - or consider paying for a sub of some description.

Or, keep a look out on Ancestry for medal cards - which are being transcribed - or Army pension records.

You might find John's medal card on the National Archive site - but they cost £3.50 to download. The ones available on Ancestry are free to view if you have some sort of subscription. The Ancestry ones are not complete yet. And the trouble with the medal cards is they do not give dob, so you might have trouble finding John.
