Cairns - Sunderland

My Grandfather, Edward Cairns, was born at 37 Cooper Street Sunderland in 1907 to a George Cairns, my Great-Grandfather.

If you look at the 1901 Census, there is a George Cairns as a 'Visitor' to 37 Cooper Street - so I assumed they were the same person - apparently not though! I ended up following the 'wrong' Cairns line back 60 years.

Question - has anyone else come across this phenomena - this house seems to have played a pivital role in my family history - how do find out why it might have had 2 people with the same name passing through it in the space of 6 years?

Thanks
