I am trying to find information on my wifes father and grandparents for a start. My father in laws birth name was Stanley but used the name Mick and sometimes Stanley Ketchel Smith. I think Ketchel was the name of a well known Leeds boxer. He was born to Richard and Mary Jane Smith(nee Holden) in 1910 at 70 Hunt Street, Lock Lane,Castleford,West Yorks. Stanley or Mick was a well known pianist and used to play regularly in the Ship Inn in Castleford. He married Florence Lindsay in 1934 and lived at Bowers Row, Allerton Bywater,Castleford, West Yorks. He died in 1953. |
