I have Thomas Johnson in Bradford in 1861 census
Wife Ann born Plymouth (nee Myers)
Mary Ann born C 1850
Charles born C 1857
Ada born C1860
Thomas died ? 3rd qtr 1863 Ann had another son Thomas in March 1864. She then married again in 1865 to John Newton. the 1871 census show Ann John and Thomas in Hertfordshire Can anyone shed light on what happened to the other three children from first marriage. I haven't been able to find the marriage for Ann & Thomas either
Thanks Carrol

I have the marriages for both Johnson & Newton to Ann Myers but I am still trying to find what happened to the children from the Johnson marriage as listed on the 1861 census

I wonder....did most of the family die at the same time?? Accident? Disease?

Andy

The only way to prove if Charles and Mary Ann were Thomas' children OR not , would be to get the certificates. Then you would only have to find Ada.

Charles & Mary Ann were the children of Ann & Thomas Johnson. The children both died of Scarlet fever & Mary Ann also had English Cholera. Thomas died from Inflammation of Thorax & Exhaustion. All died within two weeks. Ada is still a mystery because she is not with mother in the 1871 census where Ann has remarried to John Newton. Any other ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks for you help Andy & Julie

Carol, I have given you 1 possible answer on your Newton posting.

It's a little confusing with you having 2 threads with the same info.

I will repeat my answer here.

Of the 3 Ada johnson's of 1861 census, yours is missing in 1871.

If you are checking the Stanley/Wakefield one is the same.

Did your Johnson's have family in the Sheffield area?
