Dear Julie -- Thank you again for your help. Tha marriage is indeed him and I had found it -- the one his family knew nothing about! I have sent for the marriage certificate and should find his fathers name on it. In the census his birth is always given as Welshpool and the Isle of Sheppey is in Kent. But he is turning out to be such a slippery character that who knows where he was born or just how old he was. I'll let you know if I get anywhere. Marjorie
