I could not find Alexander Bailey and his wife Ann. I have 1851 and 1871 census of them. They were in Middlesex.

I don't have access in Ancestry UK, etc. I just looked up at my library.

Alexander B: 1803, London, occupation umbrella maker.
Ann B: 1804, Durham/Northumberland.

Could anyone please find them in 1861? I think they would be died before 1881.

Thanks, Steven from Australia.

Hi Sylvia, many thanks for your time. I thought so.

Were they in 1841 census or not?

Cheers, Steven.

Steven

did they have any children that you know of?

Looking for the children could be another avenue to follow

Sylvia, thanks again. Mystery!

They were witnesses of my ggg grandparents, William and Mary (nee Ramage) Waters in 1847.

I think Ann Bailey might be a mother of Mary. And Ann might be re-married to Alex.

I don't know if Alex and Ann had children. Mary was only one child of Robert and Ann Ramage. They were from Newcastle, Northumberland.

Cheers, Steven.

I think two things might have happened

1. the name has been badly mangled during transcription

2. They have been "added to" the previous family on the enumeration form, so they have lost their surname.

This last does happen ...... and it can be a mistake by either the original enumerator OR the modern day transcriber.

I've tried searching on forenames only .............. but haven't got anywhere fast!

Hi Sylvia,

I understand. Thank you for helping me.

I could not find their marriage details. I think I found Alexander's death registration in 1874 at Lambeth. I might order it to see who his informant was. Hopefully, it would be his stepdaughter Mary.

Cheers, Steven.
