Hi, I'm trying to find out what the connection is between Colmer and Daniels! My GGGrandad was John Colmer Daniels born c1830 Colyford. He's on the 1871 Census with his family, but only the sons seem to share the Colmer name, (Robert c.1860, James c1864 and Tom c1868 Colmer Daniels - his eldest son John isn't noted as Colmer Daniels, just Daniels - perhaps because of the potential confusion with his father?) I'm wondering if Colmer was his mother's maiden name - John Daniels senior b1804 married Lydia Pike in 1827 (It was Lydia's second marriage, she was a widow. Her first husband was Abraham Pike. The only entry I can find says 'Abraham Pike married Lydia Pike' (!) Can't find a birth for Lydia Colmer). Not sure what to do now! |
