I am trying to find ancestors of John Reginald Sinclair, born 1882/3. in Birkenhead. He was my grandad, known to me until his death in 1950. He never spoke of a family, but said that he went to South Africa aged two, where he fought in the Boar war with the S African Mounted Police from the age of 16. He then returned to the U.K. to join the first world war in 1914. He was stationed at Deep cut barracks, Farnborough Dorset, where he met and married my gran in 1915. His marriage certificate names his father as William Sinclair, a farmer. His army records show one living relative as Biddy Lynch, living in 1915 at Riddock St. Bootle Lancashire. |
