Thank you Sue.

Now, I wonder where her husband is in the 1930 Census?

I did find a reference to his draft card for WWII in 1942, anyone have access to that?

Mary,

I found a record for a John, Mary and Dorothy Lough on the Ship Passengers List to Boston arriving 1912. The document listed next of kin as J.S. Shepherd, Stepfather and they were coming to Methuen, Mass. I have the original document, email me at the address I gave you.

Hi Mike,

Yes, that's him in the WWII draft!

Does the draft card have any information about his family or residence?

Mary,

I have the City Directories for Methuen, MA. In 1926 John is listed with Evelyn and in 1930 residing at 56 Mystic Street. But in 1953, Evelyn E. was residing at 25 Wyman Street in Lawrence, Mass.--no John. It's possible that they may have been separated or divorced.

In 1956 Mrs. Evelyn Lough is residing at 25 High Street in Methuen and John W. is now in Methuen residing at 36 Pleasant Street, teacher at Tenny High School.

Kingsley W. and wife Jean A. is residing at 10 Tremont Street. he's a reserve policeman

Mary, I just looked at he 1956 City Directory again and it appears that John W. remarried--Gertrude H. is residing with him.

Hi Joan,

This is getting quite interesting!

I'm wondering about the E. as a middle name for Evelyn, as I didn't know she had one. But it could possibly stand for Elliott.

Because of the interesting information Sue gave above from the 1930 Census, where John is not living with Evelyn. Evelyn has a daughter in the 1930 Census, Audrey Elliott, that was born in England in 1919. That indicates she was married in England, to ____ Elliott. Then he possible passed away and she immigrated with her daughter Audrey Elliott and in 1921, then soon after married John William Lough.

Very interesting!

I wonder if they did divorce then?

Thank you ever so much for you help,

Mary

Hi Joan,

Evelyn's maiden name was Young.

She was born in 1890, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England. Her parents names were Edward Henry Young and Annie Thomas.

I might have found a marriage that fits?

Name: Evelyn Young
Year of Registration: 1918
Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun
Spouse's Surname: Herbert Elliott
District: Darlington
County: Durham, Yorkshire - North Riding
Volume: 10a
Page: 64

And possible Audrey's birth:

Audrey J. Young, Salisbury, 1919, 1st Qtr, Vol. 5a, Pg. 226, MMN= Young

I've tried to look to see when she immigrated, but no luck yet.

Also, what's so interesting is that her second husband, John William Lough was born in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire as that is what is on his WWII Draft card that Mike was kind enough to send me.

Thank you Mike!,

Mary
