records? I have some ancestors who were sent to Barnardo's childrens home then sent to Australia. Unsure when, but they were born mid 1920's. I'd love to know what happened to them. |

Thanks Linda. Arthur Lines born in Coventry in 1925, and his brother William whose birthdate I don't have but born c1922. Their mother was Frances Lines nee Rollings. |

This from the State Records Office of WA (http://www.sro.wa.gov.au/collection/passenger.asp). It seems to include child migration on the Balranald in 1935 (which should include Arthur, as indicated by Linda's message above), so might be worth requesting more info from them: |

This would appear to be William's birth. His middle initials were JH, so I don't think that the marriage & death above for William Charles Lines can be your man: |

I wonder whether this has any connection |

Yes I was wondering that too, Lewella. I notice that Arthur had a son Bill Lines, so possibly it could be him. |

Only according to two family members (one elderly, one died a decade ago). But of course, they may have been wrong I suppose. Im over the moon with the info found so far, so I don't expect anything else. If I cant find one thing more, this is more than I thought I'd know. x |

I reckon that it would be worthwhile contacting the William J Lines in Canberra - I'd lay money on him being Arthur's son! If he is, he may be able to shed some light on Arthur's brother too. |

I don't know if there is any connection, my surname is Lines and my Grandfather comes from Perth, WA. I now live in Scotland and have done so for the last 22 years, I was born in Adelaide and last travelled across to Perth to visit my Grandfather, Cecil back in the late 70's. I have just started to try and trace some ancestry and tripped over this notice board, if that's what its called. Please feel free to ask any questions and hopefully we can help each other |
