Thankyou for finding Fannys marriage for me, she was 19 at the time, I will now look for the 1881 Census which I can do but is it possible to look for the 1891/1901 Census.
On BMD I looked up under Alford and there were two Janes that came up who died between 1861 & 1871. Jane March 1861 and Jane Dec 1864, it is possible that was what her name was, it seems very close don't you think.
I hope I am not asking too much of you,

Julia

It seems like Jael must have died or gone her own way which wasn't usual in those days.
I have her sister Caroline married to George Doddington in 1864, have found the family in 1881 is it possible to find the 1871 for me please. they were both born in Mere same year 1843

I've lost Jael in 1871. Can't find her death but John Alford is married to Rachel, born 1841 not Mere but I can't make out place name. (It's transcribed Geals.)

MargaretM Report 30 Jan 2008 04:06

I wonder if a mistake was made on Free BMD? Jael seems to have married John Alford.
1861 census
Hollwell, Mere, Wiltshire

Jael, wife, 20
Both born Mere.

Thank you Margaret, you have done a great job. Now is it possible to please find something on Jael, she was married 1860 to either John Herridge or John Norris, anything after that date would be a great help.
