Marcelle Report 29 Jan 2008 19:49

Thanks every one. She was a bit sketchy with Dorothy's birth and doesn't have any certs. The trouble is there are so many Williams that I can pin point which is there for the certs. I cant find a Sarah or Naomi

Your help is very much appreciated

I wondered about the Cordys, but it still doesn't solve the problem of whether this is Dorothy's family as she isn't on the 1901 census. Are you certain abt her date of birth?

Marcelle

Marcelle Report 29 Jan 2008 19:47

I noticed in 1891 the Cordy's are living with them. I thought they may be relatives of Emma so searched for a marriage of Emma Cordy to John Williams which I found in March 1885 in Crickhowell. I checked them back in prev census and found a Mary Cordy who had a sister Emma and father Thomas. What do you think?? cant prove it though

Nobody was transported in the 1900s. It all stopped around the 1850s. However children were often sent out from institutions without their parents' consent, or even their knowledge.

What district did you find them in for the censuses?

Ozi.

Marcelle Report 29 Jan 2008 19:18

Hello I am trying to help a friend with her research and I am a little stuck
Here is what I have: dorothy elsie may williams born abt 1899 in Wales, she had a sister called margaret who might of been a bit younger than her, a brother william who we think was the oldest, a wilfred, a maud, an elizabeth, and an ethel, and an archie, but could be archid. Their mum was called emma abt 1869 and their dad was called john Williams abt 1868, william was about 15 in 1901, Dorothy also had a sister possibly called sarah and she was shipped over to austrailia when she was 14 for a petty theft, there was also another sister Naomi. I have traced the family in 1901 & 1891 but now stuck as there are hundreds of John Williams marrying an Emma in Wales. Does anyone know of any sites for people transported to Australia? I cant even confirm births of children for the certs as there are loads
Any help very much appreciated
