No father names on a marriage cert usually means they were illegitimate. Sometimes tho a father was named to save face and put as deceased. I would go more with him being illegitimate |

Hi. Thanks Annie, but I dont think so his marriage was August 1864 aged 24 so that makes his birth sometime after Aug 39. Really annoying me now that I cant find anything. |

Have you found him on any census to narrow down his place of birth? What was his occupation? |

Have you found him on any census after he was married to Mary. I can see 2 who have Mary as wife and are both coal miners |

This is not answering your specific question, but I had an ex-sister-in-law whose maiden name was Sanderson. About 25 - 30 years ago she went to a large meeting somewhere in Surrey, I think, organised for all Sandersons. Apparently she was told that there is something odd about Sandersons - they are all related - not separate groups of people just sharing the same name. I can't remember the details, and now can't ask her, but someone must know about it. |

Hi all. Thanks for all your support. I have found Thomas and Mary after 1864 no problem, Born in Durham/Co Durham He was a Coal Miner when my Nan (His Daughter)was born, It is prior to 1864 that I would like to find out. I think I have found him on the 1861 census, living in Painshaw which is where Mary was born, but not having anyone else on that census has not helped me. |

Hi all, Thanks for your help, but still no further in finding his parents, judging by one reply, could be all Sandersons are related even from York. |

Hi Thanks Howard, But I dont think this is the same one, as mine was a Coal Miner and still alive in the 1911 Census. Thanks anyway for your note. |
